Rhoda Williams (Brit Marling), a brilliant 17-year-old girl who has spent her young life fascinated by astronomy, is delighted to learn that she has been accepted into MIT . She celebrates, drinking with friends, and in a reckless moment, drives home intoxicated. Listening to a story on the radio about a recently discovered Earth -like planet, she gazes out her car window at the stars and inadvertently hits a stopped car at an intersection, putting John Burroughs ( William Mapother ) in a coma and killing his pregnant wife and son. Rhoda is a minor, so her identity is not revealed to John. After serving her juvenile prison sentence, and after four years of isolation, Rhoda continues to shield herself from the world outside, becoming a janitor at a local school, wanting to work "physically", almost as a means to struggle past the potential she has squandered with the decision of a single night.

The earth has warmed rapidly over the past century due mainly to human activity, and especially over the past few decades. The increased greenhouse effect has warmed the land and air and melted ice, but most of it (about 90%) has gone into heating the oceans. Several Skeptical Science contributors worked together to publish a scientific paper 1 which combined the land, air, ice, and ocean warming data. It found that for recent decades the earth has been heating at a rate of 250 trillion Joules per second.

Remember back in the 90s, when desktops were all the rage, and laptops and smartphones were, well, mostly non-existent. The powerful technology from Microsoft at that time included Windows , Windows NT and Windows 98. Well, fast-forward 30 odd years into the future, and powerful devices that can display things using Microsoft Windows Universal Platform (UWP) technology are everywhere. By using this technology, software developers can now create universal apps for use on Xbox One, Hololens and of course, Windows 10, and Windows Mobile..
